Recovery after Forced Displacement Tales from Three Cities: a Discussion
Recovery after Forced Displacement
Tales from Three Cities
27th March 2015
3 – 5 p.m.
The International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) is pleased to invite you to a discussion on the consequences of forced displacement in three urban settings on 27th March between 3 and 5 p.m. The discussion will take place at ICES at No 2, Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8.
Over the past two years, ICES has been investigating the consequences of urban displacement with a view to understanding how displaced populations have adapted to new locations or returned to old locations and adapted to new circumstances. These studies have taken place in Colombo, Jaffna and Kochi (India) and have used a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods to understand the links between displacement, poverty and violence and the impact displacement has had on the lives of these population groups. The authors will present summaries of their findings which will be followed by a moderated discussion. The agenda will be sent in due course.
