The two libraries in Colombo and Kandy constitute the central academic facility of the Centre, both in resources and standing as the repository of knowledge. The library specialises in social sciences and women’s studies with strong collections on ethnicity, culture and history. It also has an excellent collection on law, religion, anthropology, transitional justice and fiction. It contains one of the best collections on ethnicity and identity politics in the country. The library holdings include material usually unavailable to scholars from the Asian region. The library plays an important role in all academic activities of ICES. It is not only used by the research staff of the Centre, but also serves scholars, academics, senior government officials, politicians, media people, universities and other research institutes. The catalogue is being computerised and will enable better access to the collection in the future. Readers can also make use of the wi-fi facilities inthe library.
