The Digital Museum of Art and Memory

The Digital Museum of Art and Memory initiative brings together seven countries – Brazil, Bulgaria, Egypt, Lebanon, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Russia – to create a curated virtual space for artistic expression from around the world that deal with issues and processes related to memory. The museum will draw from many different countries and contexts, featuring artists and their creative work drawn from a variety of genres in visual and digital arts. Itt is a collective curation process which brings together curators across borders. The initiative gives participant countries the opportunity to work on both the local and global levels simultaneously while focusing on their specific contexts, as well as comparing and complementing the work from other regions and artists.

The project is now being anchored by the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), Sri Lanka, and District Six Museum, Cape Town South Africa. It is supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation, Germany.
