International Support for Human Rights Trials: Release of Policy Paper & Roundtable Discussion
The International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), in partnership with the South Asian Centre for Legal Studies (SACLS) is pleased to invite you to a roundtable discussion on ‘International Support for Human Rights Trials’. The discussion will take place on the 8th May 2015 at 4 p.m. at the ICES Auditorium, 2 Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8.
Niran Anketell will lead the discussion with a presentation drawing from the policy paper developed by the South Asian Centre for Legal Studies. This will be followed by responses from K. Kanag-Isvaran, President’s Counsel; Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu (CPA); and Nimalka Fernando (Human Rights Activist). The discussion will focus on the modalities, the legality, the desirability, and the political feasibility of international support for in-country trials. The discussion will be moderated by Gehan Gunatilleke.
