Religious Violence in South Asia: a Lecture by Dr. Ram Puniyani
Ram Puniyani has worked for several years to promote communal harmony in India.Hewas part of the People’s Tribunal that investigated the violation of the rights of minorities in Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. He is a former professor of biomedical engineering and a former senior medical officer affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, who took early retirement to promote communal harmony and human rights. In 2006 he was awarded the Indira Gandhi National Integration Award and in 2007 he received the National Integration Harmony Award. Dr. Puniyani’s books include: Communal Politics: Facts Versus Myths; Fascism of Sangh Parivar; Communalism Facts Versus Myth; Religion, Power and Violence; and Second Assassination of Gandhi.
